Obtain a position in the field of Electrical/Computer Engineering that would allow me to expand my knowledge of the field and solidify what I have learned in class.
My primary task was creating a macro for ArcGIS that would use fault current information generated in Cyme to determine and display the most likely locations for faults to have occurred on the electrical distribution system. I helped write a rate case petition for the Michigan Public Service Commission, specifically working on the portion addressing introducing fault analysis to the distribution system. I used Perl and Excel to automatically create a budget forecast for all of my departments construction projects.
I analyzed oscillographic records and simulated fault conditions in order to locate and document the cause and progression of faults. I also wrote a few macros for Excel and CAPE (Computer Aided Protection Engineering) to increase productivity and I created test cases to evaluate a vendor's fault location product.
In Boy Scouts, Eagle Scout is the highest rank that can be earned. In order to earn the rank I had to earn many merit badges and demonstrate my leadership abilities. I held several leadership positions within the troop, planned a service project to recycle used electronics, and led a group that carried out the project.
Since I was the only EE in the group, I was in charge of specifying the electronic components and determining the proper power source required. I also had the most programming experience in the group, so I wrote an AI to simulate of robot's operation.g
